A transcultural art process at the Asmat Art Gallery
In cooperation with the artists Vaago Weiland and Christiane Behr

Just like the Asmat include western ideas in their art, European artists also incorporate values from the religion and tradition of the Asmat and transform them into a new, artistic context. The most difficult role in this evolution is that of those western artists who must then reflect on their own ethics and contrast them with those of the Asmat. It is needless to say that great attention must be paid, as well as a tremendous amount of soul searching, in order to insure respect and admiration are portrayed in the finished works.
